Cafes vs. Libraries vs. Hostels, Is One Better for Work and Travel?

Different levels of external “chaos” are key to inspiration

I’ve been traveling and writing for quite some time now, and tend to gravitate to cafes, libraries, and my hostel common rooms. Back in 2021, I was a digital nomad doing architectural drafting work, which has largely dried up for remote potential. Architecture firms realized it’s less of a headache to pay more for local staff than to deal with back-and-forth emails.

The only way remote work wins out is if you can deliver clients a finished product on day 1.

This means no customized services with back-and-forth emails. An email chain with 20 replies becomes more exhaustive than having the person in-house, where information won’t be miscommunicated.
