Do Different Languages Inspire New Personalities?

French did something for me that no language has ever done

“Palmiers” (palm trees) in my host family’s backyard near Pau, France. No one ever told me France had palm trees. Not bad for 2008-era digital camera resolution.

Everyone becomes a “different person” on some level every 5–10 years. Entropy records its mark on your soul like waves crashing on a beach.

Like the shifting sands, your life priorities, values, and lifestyle preferences evolve into the person you’ve become today.

Since this change occurs naturally without intervention, it’s not inconceivable that such a change could be accelerated with another parameter such as language learning.

I’m not talking about changing your personality when you speak a language. That’s only surface-level. I’m talking about something with far greater implications.

I’m making the case that a specific language is the key to opening hidden doors to your idealized self.

I’m fortunate to have tried out many “keys” that opened the right universe at exactly the right time.

French

Paris metro circa April 2008. 17 years old. This was taken on a 35 mm camera!

I made the decision to reactivate my long-lost French, and it’s activating something ancient within me.
