I just figured out what you were talking about in this article about a year ago. The "not focusing on the outcome" part is so true. The "am I going to be rewarded for my effort?" mentality derails almost every endeavor. The weird thing is when you don't focus on the reward and focus on the work, you get rewarded often in unexpected ways.
