I see any hate on the Internet as free engagement. It may not be the engagement you want, but they are still paying a portion of their $5 a month towards your article. And they are indirectly promoting it by commenting on it. Having argumentative people is better than getting zero engagement. For example, you might disagree with this comment, but I just gave you a few pennies (probably).
