Map of Approved Counties That Will Pay Down Your Student Loans

Kansas Will Pay up to $15,000 Over 5 Years Towards Your Student Loans

That doesn’t sound like much, but consider this. That $3,000 a year will be less compound interest you will have to pay on the life of the loan. That $3,000 bonus could save you thousands more in interest by paying it off early. They will pay a maximum of $15,000 or 20% of your outstanding debt, whichever number is smaller.

A County Sponsorship Would be the Easiest to Secure

The State of Kansas pays half of the $3,000 / year, and you need a sponsor to pay the other half. In the first graphic at the top of the page, all the counties in yellow will sponsor you directly. This allows you to live anywhere in the County. As of March 2022, Pottawatomie County agreed to become a ROZ sponsor (this has not been updated on the map). For the counties in teal, you either have to get a city sponsorship or employer sponsorship, which narrows your options.
