Nostalgia is Unhealthy

Letting go is

As we get older, we inevitably learn new strategies for our “emotional toolbox.”

I’ve been writing a lot of nostalgia-based articles recently, a few of which have been well-received by the Internet and my friends.

Writing these articles has been healthy for me because I can arrive at an irreconcilable truth and move forward with my life. Until I write these articles, many possible life outcomes exist simultaneously:

Do I move back to Australia or stay closer to friends and family in Boston: My Psychedelic Trip in Australia

Is my idealized life in China? A Slice of Nostalgia in China Part 1

Is the deep Russian mind a form of consciousness I need in my future life? How Climbing Mt. Elbrus Gave Me Strength for Future Endeavors

To constantly be revisiting past and future outcomes is to devalue the present. You cannot allocate equal amounts of energy to both.

For years, I saw squandering my wealth to design a product in China as a huge stain on my life. If only I had become an English teacher in 2017, I could have designed a meaningful life around that.
