You Are Working Without the Expectation of a Reward
Did you start your own business to make more money than your job? Do you work extra hours with the expectation of pay raises and promotions? Did you go on a crazy adventure with the expectations of being able to tell interesting stories to your friends? Are you learning a new language, so that you might be able to move to that country one day?
Specific rewards are highly elusive. I would argue that your “why” has to not exist at all. Some would say that your “why” has to be very powerful, but oftentimes your “passion” is just a mask for ulterior motives.
