That's such a great point, and very true. I think once I'm in the lesson itself, I'm happy to be pushed.

My dilemma is the anticipation of the lesson 3 hours before it starts. Anticipation of difficulty is much greater than difficulty itself. If my teacher is calm and patient, I book that teacher repeatedly and am excited to be there.

As you said with piano, if you really get to know a strict teacher and they push you, this can be a very positive dynamic.

I think the Russian mind values "depth of soul," which resonates with my introspective mind. I also started Russian 7 years ago, so it's touched a lot of great moments in my life. Russian is also a strong filter for those with an insatiable curiosity that transcends "norms."
