The Pirahã tribe in the Amazon start treating their kids as adults when they are toddlers. It might be a little extreme to Westerners, but they let 3 year olds play with knives and fire. When they injure themselves, they learn quickly. The teenagers are not rebellious, but are actually contributing members of the tribe, eager to help hunt and fish.
