My Long Commute #1

I lived in Boston and took the Green Line out to Newton. Then I had to walk an additional 30 minutes to work from there. This usually took an hour and 15 minutes each way. If there was a fire on the tracks or the train became disabled, sometimes my trip would be 2 hours long. As a recent graduate, I planned out my future life on my commute. There’s something about trains that’s great for mental clarity.

My Long Commute #2

I lived in Bondi Beach in Sydney and worked in Paddington. Walking to work took me about an hour. The bus took 45 minutes on the same route if I factored in waiting time and transfers. During the peak Summer season, the busses would be full of tourists, leaving me waiting for a 2nd or 3rd bus. I decided walking was more reliable. Walking 10+ km (6 mi) per day kept me fit, even though I was eating whatever I wanted and drinking every night.

My Long Commute #3

Living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I had my longest commute ever. I commuted from Milwaukee to Racine by bus. I had to first take a city bus to the airport. Then I transferred to another regional bus to Racine. Finally I had to walk the last 15 minutes…
